Connecticut College 2026-27 Application Essay Question Explanations

The Requirements: 1 short answer of 150 words

Supplemental Essay Type(s): Community, Diversity

Who You Are and What Will You Bring

Developing a strong, equitable and inclusive community is important to us at Connecticut College. After all, camels live and work together in herds. In 150 words or less, please tell us a little more about who you are and what you will bring to the Conn community to help us grow into the best version of ourselves. You may choose to include details about how your background, identity, challenges, and lived experiences have shaped your accomplishments and potential contributions. Any format is acceptable. You can write a few sentences, one run-on sentence or even a bullet-point list.

Conn wants to accept students from a range of backgrounds who will contribute to their community, so tell admissions about what makes you you and how you will help support inclusivity on campus. Think about times when people have been intrigued by or curious about your identity, skillset, or background. Where do you come from? What has shaped you as a person and how has that made your perspective unique? Maybe you advocated for turning an abandoned lot into a neighborhood park, bringing together families in your large development, and you look forward to organizing weekly lawn games on Cro Plex Quad. What do you hope to share with others about your lived experience? How will you incorporate this element of your identity to enrich the world around you? Perhaps growing up as an only child sparked your interest in peer group dynamics, and you look forward to applying what you learned as a resident advisor. Show admissions that you’re eager to make your mark in their community. Bonus points if you can reference a specific component of the Conn experience (think clubs, classes, residential colleges, volunteer opportunities, etc.) as an avenue for you to help build an equitable community. Since this is a short essay, take their advice to heart and use a format that allows you to pack in as much info as you can!
