We work remotely with students of all ages, nationalities, and academic levels. Whether we’re near or far, we can help.
We start by pairing each student who signs up for one of our essay advising packages with the Advisor we think would best suit their needs and admissions goals. That Advisor then works with the student from start to finish via Zoom/FaceTime/phone calls, emails, and Google Doc exchanges, taking the time to get to know them really well as they identify the stories and characteristics we believe will help differentiate them from other applicants. Our signature process involves a lengthy brainstorming phase, followed by a series of assigned freewriting questions, collective outlining and drafting, and extensive rounds of editing/polishing. All packages also include final reviews by the CEA team of copyeditors, who serve as a fresh set of eyes and check every essay for errors before submission.

The Advisors at College Essay Advisors have extensive experience helping students with college admissions essays, and each one has a different background that makes them well-equipped to provide students with insightful guidance on this process. Here at CEA, we use a proprietary method created by our Founder and Chief Advisor, Stacey Brook, called the Uncommon Essay Approach, to train our Advisors before they begin working with clients. Though they have varied professional backgrounds, ranging from professors to playwrights, the one thing they all have in common is at least five years of experience working with students on college admissions essays, specifically.
A College Essay Advisor helps students brainstorm ideas, conceptualize winning admissions essays, outline concepts from beginning to end, and edit final drafts to perfection. Our Advisors assist with everything from the Common Application’s personal statement to short answers, supplemental essays, and scholarship essays. Because we have over twenty years’ worth of experience in admissions essay advising, we have seen it all, which allows us to guide students away from the trite treatment of overdone essay topics and into the realm of the truly memorable personal narratives that admissions is looking for. We are also pretty great at helping students overcome writer’s block and other challenges related to these often daunting and high-pressure assignments and are always happy to lend a supportive ear for both parents and students.
We definitely don’t write essays for our students, though we are more than happy to advise, reflect, inspire, analyze, edit, and aid students in unearthing and expressing their most meaningful and captivating personal stories!
If you were to move forward with a one-on-one advising package, you could expect to be paired with a qualified Advisor who has at least five years of experience. From there, the two of you would meet virtually to brainstorm unique ideas, conceptualize a topic and hook, draft, refine, and revise. Our Advisors work with students through every step of the process to help them write essays that differentiate them from similarly qualified applicants. (You’d be shocked at the sheer number of identical twin lacrosse players/math tutors/first-chair cellists who are also applying.)
