Imagine all the people… For this prompt it’s tempting to solve world peace, but the more realistic and specific you can get, the easier this one is to tackle. Let’s avoid Miss. America platitudes and focus on, say, public transportation between urban and rural areas or finding a new solution to wheelchair accessibility in public buildings. One way to approach this is to utilize an issue you’re already passionate about. What have you already volunteered for or worked to solve in your community? Start there and you’ll see that you already have some ideas brewing. You don’t need to have the solution for this essay, but you do need to identify a need, explore angles from which to approach the problem, and suggest some ideas for how your group might work together–combining efforts and different areas of expertise.

Next, articulate for admissions why a well-rounded education is important to you. Do you think a liberal arts education will allow you to build upon your communication and problem solving skills, preparing you for law school? Maybe you think it will help you to be more marketable once you enter the working world, prepared to work in a variety of fields. Whatever your reason may be, make it clear. Next, explain why Soka, in particular, is the school to help you accomplish your goals (law school, marketability, etc.). Does the general education curriculum stand out to you? If so, why? Demonstrate your interest and admissions is bound to be impressed.
